Addoku Easy Walkthrough 1
The First Steps
We are going to start with the top row. If we consult our combination chart we can see the cage (the area inside a dotted line) that adds up to 4 with 2 boxes can only have one combination of numbers, 1 and 3.
We can also see the 17 cage can also have one combination of numbers, 9 and 8.
This means that all the other boxes on the top row can not contain 1, 3, 8 and 9. This enables us to work out, using the combination chart, that the 12 cage must use 2, 4 and 6.
Still with us? Good! OK, we know 7 numbers for the top row but we can't tell what order to put them, however we can use them to fill in the 16 cage. How? Well we know that one of the numbers must be either 7 or 5 (the only two numbers left) and consulting our chart we can see the only combination that could make 16 is 7 and 9. So therefore the magic number is 7. We can now fill this in and also put a 9 below it making 17.
This also allows us to work out the top number in the 11 cage next to it must be a 5 (the only remaining number) and the one below it 6 (5+6=11)
Phew!
